Before I watched his interview, I already knew that there was something brewing between Direk Tikoy and the producers of the movie. It was serious as Tikoy actually wanted his name off the film. Reports state that there were portions of the film that were not ‘his’.

When watching the movie, I seriously looked into scenes which could have resulted in Direk Tikoy’s decision to disown the film presented to the MMFF board.

Then, Direk Tikoy appeared as a guest in Bandila to explan what happened. (Click here for the Tikoy Aguiluz Interview).

More than being enlightened of the politics and what transpired between the director and the producer, I admired Direk Tikoy as a director all the more.

He stood by his condition that the film was not his anymore because of the 2 minutes and 30 second scene at the end of the movie. His action reflects his principles. Im not a director, but maybe directors really treat their movies as their masterpieces and when somebody tampers it, its not what they envisioned it tobe and therefore not theirs.

At last, a manifestation that the entertainment industry is more than just for the money and fame. We need more Direk Tikoys in the industry.

I love this OST because 1) Gloc-9 sang it; and 2) its an action movie after the genre found itself long hibernating behind the commercialization of love manifested in shallow stories of Pinoy Love Teams.

I actually watched this OST twice. The first one was to appreciate the music. I tried to dissect and understand each and every bar as well as appreciate the rhyming skills, the rhythm, wordplay and flow of Gloc-9 (meet my avid-fan-of-rap-music side).

The second time was to appreciate the video. Filipino action movies dominated the 90′s. What’s interesting about Asiong Salonga is that part of its selling point is nostalgia. For one, the movie is in black-and-white. That’s so cool because its old school; and old school in today’s generation sells.

Further, the actors are from the 90′s — the era of Pinoy Action Movies. With them being recognizable even to the you audience adds to the concept that  that this really is a legitimate action movie. Its also interesting to point out that the main characters are not the usual pretty boys. Ang tunay na lalake walang abs. They were not even protagonists during the 90′s. John Regala, Roi Vinson, and Jeorge Estregan (the lead) were famous for being notorious leaders, rapists, and drug addicts. This actually is a good thing though as this adds to the “no non-sense” and “bad ass” feel the movie is trying to convey.

Asiong Salong could be a turning point for the return of Philippine action movies (and no, it was not Anak ng Kumander).  Support MMFF and watch this movie.

Oh. I also forgot to mention reason #3: Carla Abellana.

1. Blackberry 9900. Actually, I just want another smartphone. But, there is this chance that I will be able to have this one come December 8. My mom just bought this 2 weeks ago, but when in Vietnam, she found out that mobile providers in Vietnam actually charge a lot for BB service. So she decided to get another one, and that I buy BB 9900 from her instead. Yay for me! An installment-mode of payment with no specific time table. LOL. 
 

2. Kung Fu Panda 2: Kinect for Xbox 360. My Kinect is actually gathering dust because I don’t like my Kinect Adventures. Though I have completed a considerable amount of levels, the game looks stale as you go through obstacle courses again and again. I fell in love when I watched the movie, and am intrigued with this relatively well-reviewed Kinect Game.

3. Gold Membership at Xbox Live. I love every bit of my Xbox 360. However, I am not able to maximize the whole capacity of my console or have a total gaming experience as I am playing offline. It would be a blast to get this one. I may eventually get this but its currently out of the budget. It would be really appreciated if someone gets this one for me. Thaaanks!!!! Lol.

I don’t know if THIS IS IT, but this will definitely help me find my THIS IS IT job, especially with a tracking in the academe.

Ohhh. Wish me luck! At sana, makahanap na ako ng Friday/Saturday job to complement my research work.
